With the release of The Sims 3 Generations, Queenstown sorta needed a one stop wedding venue. I wanted it to fit in to the look of the town, which in my game at least, is a mixture of old colonial style weatherboard buildings, but with an influx of mid century modern style homes (it’s kindof a weird mix, but I love it, haha). So this lot is a traditional small town chapel, where weddings can happen, and a more modern “church hall” type building for the wedding reception and partying. There’s a wee playground in the corner to keep the whipper-snappers happy while you’re dancing the night away with your newly married friends, or your brand spanking new husband or wife!

The chapel also features his and hers dressing rooms for preparation, plenty of guest seating, and a lovely view from the wedding arch. The reception hall sports a nice big dance floor for your reception, a buffet table, a bar and plenty of seating for your hungry guests. All that weeping and rice throwing sure works up an appetite!

Hey guys, you may have heard, we had another pretty big earthquake here a couple of days ago, which has really thrown another spanner in the works! We are obviously better prepared (mentally) for this, so I think we’ll all be able to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and try to get life back to usual a little easier this time. “They” are predicting more quakes unfortunately, but well, you can’t live your life in fear can you!

To help take my mind of things, I made a family fun park for my Sims 3 World Queenstown. It incorporates a lot of the great new play stuff that comes with Generations.

The lot requires all EP’s up to Generations, stuff packs not required, and uses no CC. See the map location for where to put it, the lot can obviously placed elsewhere though!

It has a bar that anyone can access, with tables for eating, and bathroom facilities, and there is an exclusive room where all the music and dancing happens. The bar replaces Corrigans Jazz Bar in Queenstown, but if you have a lot over 17×31 you can put it anywhere!

There’s a bonus that comes with this lot – well it doesnt exactly come WITH it but I’m including it here because I used it a lot and figured I’d share.

I have for a long time wanted a fully featured tile wall & floor set for my mid century homes. Patterns and EA walls just didn’t cut the mustard, and you know that saying “if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself!” so I did!

Some people requested that I upload some of the houses I have built for my own game (but that I didn’t include with the world). Here are a few that I have to share with you. Please ensure you read all information below.

These houses require all EP’s up to Late Night. I also have the Fast Lane Stuff and Outdoor Living stuff packs. The CC I have used in all these houses are my own CC, EA Store items from these sets – Regal Living, Hewnsman, Hacienda, Bahaus, Provence, the Earth Day plant set, Bayside (and the laundry), Ultra Lounge, 50s laundry, the Club Vaindenberger set, and of course the *amazing* curtains from Indigo.

Lots not installing via the launcher?

It has come to my attention that these lots aren’t installing properly in peoples games. I’m not sure why this is, but it seems it’s a known problem, and as such there may be a workaround for it. You can find the workaround for installing these lots here. Because there are a couple of things included in the sims3pack, you can single out the actual lot file to put in your library folder by looking for the following files:

Mid Century Masterpiece

This house is modelled after the Maston Residence in LA, built 1947 (swoon). Look it up on flickr! You won’t be disappointed :) This is one of my most favourite houses that I’ve ever made!

It comes with 2 bedrooms (1 master with ensuite) plus a study/office (could even be a nursery!), a large open plan living & dining area, kitchen diner, a games/workshop area, a small pool, and lovely landscaped garden with lower level bbq area and upper terraced patio off the master bedroom (which has a super sweet hottub as well!). Note when you place this lot, the colour of the terrain on one of the corners defaults to ugly EA rock terrain. I disguised this by going to Edit World in Edit town mode, and chucked in some shrubs and rocks to mask that part. Sorry about that! looks fine if you mask it though :)

My own cc is too numerous to list, because well, I’ve pretty much used all of it. Almost none of it is included in the lot file, however. What is included is: A couple of patterns (wood grain that you can remove if you have Queenstown), the panelled walls you see inside & out, the kitchen counters & cabinets (you can also remove these if you already have my kitchen), and some rafters that I created. I apologise in advance that these rafters do not fade in and out, this may be annoying to you, if so, just remove ‘em, obviously! I also used items from the Outdoor Living Stuff Pack to create the lovely patio/bbq area in the garden, so it’ll probably look pretty naff if you don’t have that. You can always fix it up with your own stuff though!

Mid Century Butterfly

This cute little hill top butterfly style house sports 3 bedrooms plus a nursery, an open plan living, dining & kitchen area, separate laundry, 2 bathrooms, and views to.die.for. Once again I’m not going to list all my CC, and feel free to open the file in CUSTARD to delete the kitchen, patterns & wallpapers that are in the file. You’ll need this pattern (a vertical version of my wood siding) if you want it to show up properly :)

Mid Century Legacy House

This house was originally situated in Redcliffs, but is now in Queenstown! It was purpose built for a large legacy family I was playing who were obviously very wealthy! Because it has been played in, you have the luxury of enjoying the fruits of their labour right from the start. This includes some painted canvases, a perfect grape & fruit garden, expensive sculpted sculptures, and thats not to mention the massive flippin house! It has 5+ bedrooms PLUS a nursery, PLUS a separate spare room that was used for the butler but is now empty. One of the bedrooms and bathrooms is separate from the main house – I used this for the grandparents so they could get some privacy from the annoying kids. There is a pool, a fancy schmancy pool house, a meditation and martial arts area (complete with cuties panda topiary!) a pond, a mature perfect garden with trees & grapes, and oodles of land for chilluns to play on. This has been a fantastic house for my legacy family, they love it! its obviously enormous, but the main area you’ll be playing is pretty central, the bedrooms are on the edges of the house so out of the way. Ooh almost forgot, there’s a cellar downstairs with some pretty nice nectar in the racks I think!

There’s a kitchen cabinet that didn’t attach to the lot file, so I’ve included it in the rar. Otherwise its me and EA store objects, plus the wonderful Indigo curtain I keep rabbiting on about. Oh I just noticed that I used a bookshelf that was a bonus back from last year, I’m not exactly sure how you go about getting that, but it’s called “Book Cliff by Libronica” if you want to search for it :)

Compact Modern House

This is just a small and simple MCM house, good for families! It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a garage and plenty of land for expansion.

Sheltered Modern House

This was the house my legacy family started in. It features a large open plan living area, with a big kitchen, a couple of decent sized bedrooms plus a study which COULD be a nursery. As the family progressed I converted to the garage into a fabulous extra bedroom, love it. There’s a lovely shapely pool in the back yard, with a big open patio for taking in the views. There is also some room for a vege garden out the back :) I can’t remember if I ever shared the perforated brick pattern you see on the front wall here, so here it is.

Hi there!
A number of people have mentioned a lag issue with Redcliffs, and the wonderful Dutchysim has discovered that changing the lot “Military Point Park” to “No Visitors Allowed has remedied that. This was confirmed by a couple of other simmers too, so if you are experiencing lag, that may be something to try.

It was also mentioned that the Hospital and Office building lots were empty, so I am uploading the lots here for you to plop them in your game if they are missing for you. Neither lot contains any CC.

Woops I forgot to mention, if you are wanting to remove extra CC from Redcliffs, download the original world file from here, open it up in CUSTARD, uncheck everything you DON’T want, and save the file and install as usual via the launcher. Some objects and patterns may be missing from the world when you load it, but at least you’ll have a world file with the amount of CC you want. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I have another lot for you! YAYYYY!!!
On entering Bridgeport that came with the new Late Night expansion pack (which ruulessss) I noticed a particularly ugly monstrosity of a building in the downtown area. To my horror, it was the art gallery! BLECH. So I made a replacement! woot!

It is a fairly simple, more streamlined, modern, but non-ugly art gallery, which also has a sort of mini-auditorium for your musically inclined sims to jam or perform! Dance floors too, get yr groove on simmies! (not like that, sickos..though there is an elevator…). Theres also a little cafe/bar thingy out the side, nice for relaxing after a day of intense art viewing – that shit is hard work! Not much else to say really! Minimal CC used, as outlined below.

Hi guys!! I know it has been a *really* long time since I updated, but I am still around… I have just been playing Minecraft more than one person really should… So yeah. (by the way, play minecraft, it is *amazing*).

So to make it up to you, I have a lovely tree-lined row of 4 Brownstone style apartments (or whatever) for you. There is minimal CC (I even checked it with CUSTARD and its fine), and I made it to replace the god-awful “brownstone” villa type dealie in Bridgeport.

I have left it as a shell, so you can basically carve out the apartments however you like – perhaps you want a grand 3 or 4 storey mega-loft or a teeny tiny studio in the top corner. Who am I to decide how you should lay it out! Each townhouse has a garden out the back, and there is a grand feature fountain thingy out the back.

Lot is zoned as residential currently, you’ll need to find a tutorial for converting it to apartments, they are available at MATY & MTS, so you know, JFGI. :D

As you might already know, I love mid century design. This includes architecture as well, without a doubt! So today I have for you a lovely mid century inspired house for your (admittedly, very rich sims – this house aint cheap!) It has 2+ bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a games room, a media room, and a large kitchen/dining area. Theres also a pretty large empty room in the basement which could be a bedroom or 2 if you rejigged the layout a bit :) It is built using floorplans from the age, so should be fairly accurate! It is decorated in a more modern style though.

It is on a hillside, and I’m not sure how that affects placement in your hood, I haven’t tried it :P The pictures show how its decorated in my game, which includes a lot of sims 3 store stuff, specifically the bayside set. SO I’m not sure if that will show up, it will probably just be replaced by basegame stuff.

I hope you enjoy playing it, as much as I enjoyed building it.
