Updated for Pets – Queenstown, a world for The Sims 3

Please read and understand all information below about the world before installing.

Hey guys!
Well here it is, after much stress and toil, I give you the updated Queenstown, with a new country area – Gibbs Valley (thats Gibbs as in Gibson, not gibs in the gruesome counterstrike sense of the word! That would be hilarious though…). Gibbs Valley is a place for your Sims to get away from the hustle & bustle of Queenstown, get back to nature, and spend time in seclusion.

This isn’t a massive overhaul of the town or anything, it’s just a small addition to enrich the functionality of Queenstown to keep up with the Pets EP.

As you drive through Gibbs Pass towards the valley, you’ll notice the scenery change from Alpine, the flora is a little less evergreen, a little more dynamic. There’s room for your pets to run around freely, with large lots perfect for farms, or for breeding horses. Speaking of horses, what better way to train them by taking them for a nice long nature walk up Opal Peak, to take in the breathtaking views of Queenstown from the top. You can also relax in the hot springs at the top, and if you’ve got kids and they’re not already worn out from the major hike up the hill, there’s a playground to keep them occupied while you relax.

Gibbs Valley also houses the Equestrian Centre, and a jumping park to build those horsie skills. Dogs and cats are not forgotten, there is a large, landscaped dog park and cat jungle next to the Gibbs Valley Shopping Centre. There really is no need to go into town if you don’t want to! Unless of course you have school or work in the town… Then I guess you should!

A few other things have changed since the last release of Queenstown.
I have named & numbered all the lots with street numbers, and I’ve included a handy map for your convenience. I have also upgraded a few lots to be a little more functional and/or aesthetically pleasing, for example the restaurant now has an outdoor eating area, and there is a small cafe type place (serve yourself of course) outside the grocery store/theatre. The fire station now has the missing fire alarm too (still can’t believe I missed that in the first edition). I also included my Family Fun Park that I released separately in the world this time, as my sims use it all the time and I figured I might as well!

I’ve built 2 new houses – both farm houses in the new area, but apart from that there are no new residential lots.

World Requirements and Custom Content:

Before installing this world it is recommended that you back up your save games and additional lots you might have, delete your world caches folder and uninstall the original Queenstown. This world is updated using the original Queenstown world as a base, and so I think the old world will need to be uninstalled before installing the new one. Make sure the old world file is removed from the “Installed worlds” folder too.

The EP and Custom Content requirements are exactly the same as for the original Queenstown.
The same CC objects that were attached to the Queenstown world file are the same, except they have been updated for pets if required. I have attached a rar with the fixed CC separately for convenience, which includes the rabbit holes made by Raven Shadow @MTS. If you have already got Queenstown installed and updated all your CC then you will not need to do anything, just install the new world. Please ensure you read all the information for old Queenstown as well.

OK, well I think thats everything! I hope you enjoy the new additions to Queenstown :) I’m off to play it finally! As always, let me know if there are any major problems that can’t be fixed in your own.

(Also, I will work on updating my CC over the weekend. Its apparent that most people will have already fixed their CC so I’m not sweating it too bad, but yeah, I’ll endeavour to have it done at the weekend…)

Hey Sarah! Sorry to be the first bum note in this thread, but I’ve been having an issue with the world. Every time I try to select it (it was the same with Redcliffs and pre-pets Queenstown) it loads for a min, freezes and I get the “The Sims 3 Pets has encountered an error and needs to close” error.

Any suggestions? I tried Glendelough by Freudroid and that worked, even though I have exactly zero of the required expansion packs installed. Curious! I doubt it’s a CC issue, though. Still, I would really love to play Queenstown. D:

Hi Wandi,

I had that problem too. I had to delete all traces of the original Queenstown from the my documnets > electronic arts folder (Queenstown files in Downloads, world cache, installed worlds and saves). Then I had to delete my DCcache folder contents and reinstall all my package files in the launcher. Hope this helps!

Encloped, I ran the doors included in the rar file through the TSR RigFix tool before I installed them. I don’t think they have been updated at the source which is why I put them in there :)

Hi Sarah. I was so happy to see that you have updated this world for Pets, so thank you very much for doing that! It’s one of my favs next to Redcliffs. I’m hoping that’s coming next !! :)

I have installed the world and was able to look around and found so many beautiful areas. I did notice that when I was ready to get my household in their house and play, I experience a rather long period of freezing. I’m not able to play the game. I tried the same family in the world that came with Pets and everything is working just fine. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problem or could offer some advice. I made sure that the military base was on no visitors allowed just in case and it is.

It could be a piece of custom content in the world that’s not behaving but I’m not really sure. Any help is appreciated. I would love to be able to play because it’s gorgeous!

Hi Ash, if you think it is CC related, then try taking out CC and testing it. There is very little custom content in the world to cause problems, I think the only things that are attached to the world itself are my cornices (which are fences and I can’t see fences causing trouble in game..) a couple of wallpapers and patterns? None of these things should cause issue with the world. So I’d definitely suggest trying it out without CC and see what happens :) Make sure you don’t save the game with CC out or you’ll be stuck with no-CC-ness when you return to the world :)

Do I need to download this one and install it instead of the original one? And the other question is, do I need Pets to download this because I don’t plan on getting Pets at all.

I seem to be the only one with a problem installing! I get installation has failed make sure your game is up to date. I have all expacks & stuff packs & fully patched. I ran it through the decrapifier & still get the same message. Last time I had needed the .World files to get queenstown to work. Are those able to be available? It is very beautiful…I don’t know why I am getting an error.

Hey Wandi,, I had the same issue. I had to uninstall the old Queenstown with the installer, and make sure it was gone from my Downloads file, and THEN install the new Queenstown.

For those with suspected CC problems I’ve been using a program call Process Monitor, when you set it up correctly and use it correctly it’ll tell you what custom content files (.PACKAGES) are being access the most, any with an outrageous high number is problem content and should be removed here’s a link on how to use and download it. It could be useful not just with problems with this world but problems in general.

For anyone freezing you should try using Twallan’s Master Controller to reset everything in the world, it’ll poof all sims/pets back home and reset all items in the world, I do it when I experience freezing or lagging and it usually makes it better. Also try using Twallan’s Overwatch, it cleans up various things around town daily (every morning @ 3AM Sim Time), such as car meshes that aren’t being used, that bog down the game.

I’m hesitant on downloading this due to CC, whever I get cc furniture(since the patch) in my game, it makes my buy mode buggy.And I don’t want to go through TSR fix it.

Well I am sorry to hear that I guess? The TSR tool is a great way to fix your CC, and I am not a fan of TSR by any stretch of the imagination. But of course its your decision.

@Autumn: If you want to fix your CC without going through TSR, you can use the RigFix tool found here:

It fixes exactly the same things that the TSR tool does. It’s really easy, you don’t have to install anything, just drag and drop your files.

Like Sarah said, there is very, very little CC required and she has already fixed the CC that is needed if you download it from here.

Thank you, Sarah, for updating this for Pets! I finally just installed WA (already have all the other EPs) and the first thing I did was download Queenstown. I can’t even imagine the amount of work that goes into creating a world, much less a beautiful one! You are seriously so talented. :)

The new queenstown is basically a new world, so if you want the families from the old one you will have to save them to your family bin and rehome them in New Queenstown. I didn’t have any plans to include a save, no.

Sarah I have been playing Queenstown for a month now and also updated it to the Pets expansion. It’s amazing! You are such a talented and generous person! It has everything you might want, country life, city life, mansions, starter homes and all expansion pack-related content. You rock! Looking forward to see what new lots you have in store for us next.

Some things I have not yet found working; my sims cannot attend their after-school activities. The petshop in Gibbs Valley seems not to work as in you cannot buy anything just “view” the chash-machine. Maybe it is just my game but if you have a clue would love to hear it.

Hi Anna, You could try saving the school lot to your lot library/bin thing, and replacing the school, unfortunately (or fortunately I suppose!) I haven’t encountered that problem. The petshop is purely decorative, as I don’t have the LE edition of pets which includes a pet register. If you do have one, feel free to replace the deco register with a functioning one :)

Well, I don’t normally ask for help like this, but I’ve been googling for hours now, trying to find a soultion but, alas…I LOVE this ‘hood. It’s perfect. But when I try to play it, it works like a charm form about one and a half sim day, then it crashes to desktop…I have tried everything, and I just want to ask if anyone else has this problem and any ideas for a fix? The EA hoods work fine, but I don’t want to play in those :p

Was wondering about one thing though, the rabbit hole doors, they are not showing up in my game, is that because of Pets? Have tried all day to fix it, but fixing the custom content for Pets didn’t work and placing the files from DCCache to Library did not work either. Any clue?

Anna, Have you tried redownloading them from Mod the Sims? They should be in the build>community objects section, perhaps you are looking in the wrong catalogue? Remember you might have to re-place the doors in their respective lots if they aren’t showing up in the actual world – rather than not appearing in your game at all.

I was missing the barracks, the stadium and the town hall – I did have the necessary rabbit hole doors in my game, so I was able to fix both buildings.
The Spa and the Subway station were both showing up fine, though.

For the stadium, you need to go to Mountain View Park – behind the hospital – and go into the basement. There’s a sort of locker room construction there, with a stretch of empty wall big enough for the stadium rabbit hole door.

Anyone else having issues with the spawners. All of a sudden where I used to have pigeons and things I have fog. I am not a creator so I have no idea how to fix it or even what went wrong. I didn’t add any new cc, I even uninstalled the world and cc to see if it would help, but no luck.

Unfortunately I’m having problems saving now, but I’m not sure if its down to the world or not. It loaded and saved fine with CC but no core-mods, then since I’ve added MasterController and played some I’m getting a ‘Save error code 12′ (= World file save failure.)

I just have to say this is the best world for pets hands down! Not only is their a million different fun things to do with your sims but you have MORE than one 64×64 lot! I am apart of the equus sims community (sim 3 horse breeders) and due to the amount of horses I need two large 64×64 lots and Queenstown is perfect! Thank you again for creating this world! ^_^

Just had to say thanks for this beautiful world. I was playing in your original Queenstown (same family for like 7 sim weeks in your legacy family house) and I downloaded this one last night after installing Pets. I used Twallan’s Porter mod to move all my sims over to the new world without losing anything. Your worlds are gorgeous and have a little bit of everything. @ Haley I am getting the same problem and came here in hopes of finding a fix! This is my first time downloading a world so I’m not sure what the usual routes are for fixing something like this.

For me I’ll select the world, and it will be seconds away from finishing loading before it crashes and an error comes up saying Sims 3 is not responding. I use Windows 7, and followed the instructions. Have the CC, double clicked the loader, it said it finished installing fine.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, I was really looking forward to playing this gorgeous look town. :c

I am totally in love with your worlds (currently using St Claire and refusing to use any other world, haha. I had my friend over to see the world (she has bad luck with custom worlds so she never uses them) and we spent hours just looking at all the houses/townhouses/apartments) – and will be adding this one to my game as well.

I’m not getting Overwatch or Woohooer options on the city hall. Just master controller. I assume it’s because of the custom doors, but I have them installed and it’s just not happening…woohooer and overwatch options do not appear when clicking city hall. How do I fix this?

Neither this world nor the LN-ready Redcliffs will install in my game. It gives me a message about possibly needing to check for a game update, but my game is fully patched to 1.42 via the Patch Downoader. I did decrapify all the worlds because my Store content is decrapified; could that cause a problem?

I tried with an entirely new game folder with no mods installed except No-CD, and no CC installed except that which was provided for these worlds. I even tried it with all the Store stuff removed so the only things installed via the Launcher are these worlds. Still no dice. Any idea what I could try next?

So, apparently, typing without troubleshooting is bound to make one look stupid. Who knew? I tried it again without decrapifying and it installed as intended. I’ll just decrapify the unpacked content to get the Store stuff working, if needed. Sorry to clutter your thread further with my inanity, but I figured one or two other people out there might have a similar mental hiccup and need advice.

Hi, I have asked this question a few times on your tumblr but never got a response. Will you be updating this world for Supernatural? Seasons? University? While I do like your other worlds, this one runs the most smoothly on my machine without issues or lags. I also like the heavy placement of spawners of gems seeds an animals, as opposed to your newer worlds where the spawners are more sparing like the EA worlds. Plus I just plain like how it is laid out. If not I will not fret and I shall still keep playing it. I will just have to build in the items from the new ex packs myself. However, your vision on how you do your worlds is amazing and i would love to see how you would integrate the new ex packs into it.

That said, keep making awesome worlds.

I fell in love once in Queenstown – the phenomenal world! But I have to say – the previous version was beautiful – especially the parks were wonderful. The colors of autumn, what did you use today took away a lot of charm. I wish I could change without repainting Queenstown ? : ( Sorry my english – i translate with Google
