MCM Houses for Queenstown, made by Awesims - Free Sims 3 Downloads
Hi guys, hope you’re having a great day :)

Some people requested that I upload some of the houses I have built for my own game (but that I didn’t include with the world). Here are a few that I have to share with you. Please ensure you read all information below.

These houses require all EP’s up to Late Night. I also have the Fast Lane Stuff and Outdoor Living stuff packs. The CC I have used in all these houses are my own CC, EA Store items from these sets – Regal Living, Hewnsman, Hacienda, Bahaus, Provence, the Earth Day plant set, Bayside (and the laundry), Ultra Lounge, 50s laundry, the Club Vaindenberger set, and of course the *amazing* curtains from Indigo.

Lots not installing via the launcher?

It has come to my attention that these lots aren’t installing properly in peoples games. I’m not sure why this is, but it seems it’s a known problem, and as such there may be a workaround for it. You can find the workaround for installing these lots here. Because there are a couple of things included in the sims3pack, you can single out the actual lot file to put in your library folder by looking for the following files:

Mid Century Masterpiece lot file: 0×72b4dc17e9caf0a0436dddaca168785.package
Mid Century Butterfly lot file: 0×1499c17f7073729742d931d9b35e7631.package
Mid Century Legacy lot file: 0xaba1d8428a9d018e4b6e8f4062e3d285.package
Compact Modern lot file: 0×3e82fd401f3f05b84eb5811d2268a74.package
Sheltered Modern lot file: 0×4d15cdb422b8b43b6e4cf4569ff1c.package

Mid Century Masterpiece

Garden - MCM Masterpiece House by Awesims - Free Sims 3 Downloads
This house is modelled after the Maston Residence in LA, built 1947 (swoon). Look it up on flickr! You won’t be disappointed :) This is one of my most favourite houses that I’ve ever made!

It comes with 2 bedrooms (1 master with ensuite) plus a study/office (could even be a nursery!), a large open plan living & dining area, kitchen diner, a games/workshop area, a small pool, and lovely landscaped garden with lower level bbq area and upper terraced patio off the master bedroom (which has a super sweet hottub as well!). Note when you place this lot, the colour of the terrain on one of the corners defaults to ugly EA rock terrain. I disguised this by going to Edit World in Edit town mode, and chucked in some shrubs and rocks to mask that part. Sorry about that! looks fine if you mask it though :)

My own cc is too numerous to list, because well, I’ve pretty much used all of it. Almost none of it is included in the lot file, however. What is included is: A couple of patterns (wood grain that you can remove if you have Queenstown), the panelled walls you see inside & out, the kitchen counters & cabinets (you can also remove these if you already have my kitchen), and some rafters that I created. I apologise in advance that these rafters do not fade in and out, this may be annoying to you, if so, just remove ‘em, obviously! I also used items from the Outdoor Living Stuff Pack to create the lovely patio/bbq area in the garden, so it’ll probably look pretty naff if you don’t have that. You can always fix it up with your own stuff though!

Mid Century Butterfly

Front of house - Mid Century Butterfly House made by Awesims - Free Sims 3 Downloads

This cute little hill top butterfly style house sports 3 bedrooms plus a nursery, an open plan living, dining & kitchen area, separate laundry, 2 bathrooms, and views to.die.for. Once again I’m not going to list all my CC, and feel free to open the file in CUSTARD to delete the kitchen, patterns & wallpapers that are in the file. You’ll need this pattern (a vertical version of my wood siding) if you want it to show up properly :)

Mid Century Legacy House

Front - Mid Century Legacy House made by Awesims - Free Sims 3 Downloads

This house was originally situated in Redcliffs, but is now in Queenstown! It was purpose built for a large legacy family I was playing who were obviously very wealthy! Because it has been played in, you have the luxury of enjoying the fruits of their labour right from the start. This includes some painted canvases, a perfect grape & fruit garden, expensive sculpted sculptures, and thats not to mention the massive flippin house! It has 5+ bedrooms PLUS a nursery, PLUS a separate spare room that was used for the butler but is now empty. One of the bedrooms and bathrooms is separate from the main house – I used this for the grandparents so they could get some privacy from the annoying kids. There is a pool, a fancy schmancy pool house, a meditation and martial arts area (complete with cuties panda topiary!) a pond, a mature perfect garden with trees & grapes, and oodles of land for chilluns to play on. This has been a fantastic house for my legacy family, they love it! its obviously enormous, but the main area you’ll be playing is pretty central, the bedrooms are on the edges of the house so out of the way. Ooh almost forgot, there’s a cellar downstairs with some pretty nice nectar in the racks I think!

There’s a kitchen cabinet that didn’t attach to the lot file, so I’ve included it in the rar. Otherwise its me and EA store objects, plus the wonderful Indigo curtain I keep rabbiting on about. Oh I just noticed that I used a bookshelf that was a bonus back from last year, I’m not exactly sure how you go about getting that, but it’s called “Book Cliff by Libronica” if you want to search for it :)

This is just a small and simple MCM house, good for families! It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a garage and plenty of land for expansion.

Sheltered Modern House

Front - Sheltered Modern House made by Awesims - Free Sims 3 Downloads

This was the house my legacy family started in. It features a large open plan living area, with a big kitchen, a couple of decent sized bedrooms plus a study which COULD be a nursery. As the family progressed I converted to the garage into a fabulous extra bedroom, love it. There’s a lovely shapely pool in the back yard, with a big open patio for taking in the views. There is also some room for a vege garden out the back :) I can’t remember if I ever shared the perforated brick pattern you see on the front wall here, so here it is.

I hope you and your sims enjoy these houses! If you have any problems that you can’t fix yourself, please let me know :)

    Oh, wow! Sarah!

Thank you so much for your houses!
You have such a great builds, my sims and me couldn’t be happier :)

  2. 04 / 30 / 11

    Dutchysim says:

Sarah, I can’t get your houses installed. The installer says he installed them but they would show. Is it me or does somebody else have this problem?

  3. 05 / 01 / 11

    Katie says:

These are fantastic! Thanks! And I’m pretty sure you shared the perforated brick pattern, if not on it’s own, then with another lot, because I just used it in a house I built.

Again, thanks so much! These houses are great. I can’t wait to see them in my game.

Mid Century is my favorite style. You’ve done a great job on these homes.

I tried finding those curtains you recommended but it seems the site is down. Is there another set of curtains you can recommend?

    B says:

I love, love, love mid century homes. The have the most interesting designs and outdoor decor that works with any landscaping plan. Then I can use all your fabulous furnishing you created in them. Oh Sarah, thank you for sharing from the bottom of my heart. My sim family thank you too, they will need a new home soon. :)

  7. 05 / 01 / 11

    B says:

Yeah, you shared the perforated bricks, I have them in my game. Love that pattern, never thought to use it the way you did. ;)

    mette says:

Great job, Sarah! I´ll rush back and install them in Queenstown (in my game called Dronningdal, Queenvalley, in danish) And eventually some of my sims will move in once they´ve stopped obeying their collectoholism, as you sure have put a lot to collect in that pretty little town of yours :-)
I´m still exploring the place, but I like it a lot from first sight. So thank you again and again, you really know how to keep up the steam for all of us! (I have absolutely no idea if the last sentence make sense to you guys, you´ll just have to read it in pictures :-) )

    Katie says:

I’m having the same problem as Dutchysim. Any idea why it might be happening? Tried installing by double clicking the icons, it said they were installed, but they weren’t. Then tried installing in the launcher. Again it said they were installed but they weren’t. I also cleared my caches, but that didn’t do anything.

  12. 05 / 01 / 11

    Elizabeth says:

I downloaded the houses and installed them but they don’t show up in my bin..:(

  13. 05 / 01 / 11

    Elizabeth says:

as a matter of fact I don’t even see them in the launcher..

  14. 05 / 01 / 11

    Sarah says:

Hey guys, I honestly have no idea why they wouldn’t be showing up, but I did notice that Beatdoc was having similar problems with people installing her lots, so I thought I’d post the link to the workaround she linked to here, hopefully it’ll work for you!?

    http://builders.forumotion.net/t1234-installing-lots-that-don-t-install-properly-via-the-launcher-by-simmerqueen

I’m sorry for the inconvenience of it all, I’ve got no idea why it would happen, perhaps its store content? Sims.. UGHH!!!

  15. 05 / 01 / 11

    Amanda says:

Same is happening to me too! :(

I install them but they don’t show up in the game, then thay say in the launcher that they aren’t installed ,Sarah I hope you can fix this cause I LOVE your houses :)

  16. 05 / 01 / 11

    Sarah says:

hey athenashavoc, and anyone who doesn’t have the curtains, I can’t seem to get to the site either, so I figured I’d just upload the file here, I’m sure they won’t mind (please let me know if you do, I don’t want to offend!). Here are the curtains.

  17. 05 / 01 / 11

    Sarah says:

oh and if you are going to try the workaround, the filename for the actual lot file (not the CC kitchen or patterns or wallpapers) is 0×72b4dc17e9caf0a0436dddaca168785.package (lol) AH forgot to mention it’s for the mid century masterpiece lot. I’ll list the others in a sec.

  18. 05 / 01 / 11

Mid Century Masterpiece lot file: 0×72b4dc17e9caf0a0436dddaca168785.package

fantastic news, thanks for that Katie!!!!

    Debbie says:

Sarah, Queenstown is beautiful and I love the houses you’ve offered for download. Just so you know the link for the vertical wood pattern doesn’t work though. I am so enjoying playing this world. Thank you.

  22. 05 / 01 / 11

    Sarah says:

Hey Debbie, I’m glad you’re enjoying Queenstown :) I just tried downloading the file and it was fine, perhaps the site was busy or something just went bung, keep trying and it should eventually work, hehe.

  23. 05 / 01 / 11

    Dutchysim says:

Thanks for the workaround Sarah. It worked!

  24. 05 / 03 / 11

    jenny says:

downloading these! curious where in in Queenstown are these lots??? thanks :D

  25. 05 / 03 / 11

    a. mood says:

loving these houses (as all of your creations) but I have on teeny tiny question: what is this dresser visible in the picture of ‘birth of venus’ bedroom from the legacy house? it’s nowhere to be found in my game after installing the lot and it’s really lovely, so i’m desperate to put it there ;>

  26. 05 / 03 / 11

    Sarah says:

Jenny, there are pictures to indicate where the lots go in Queenstown.

  27. 05 / 03 / 11

    Sarah says:

oh errrr ummmmm…have I not shared that dresser?? hmmm… lol.

  28. 05 / 03 / 11

    jenny says:

Oh! I’m sorry Sarah, i didn’t notice that little tidbit :D..thanks!!

  29. 05 / 04 / 11

    Karin says:

I’m having a great time with your world and these houses, but somehow, for some unfathomable reason, files are refusing to show up in the houses… The entire Moderne set, for instance, and the round mirrors from the Paola set… It’s no big deal having to place them, thanks to your excellent photographs – but it just puzzles me why it’s happening…
Oh, and the sideboard that’s in the Butterfly house (underneath the Washington DC painting), did you share that anywhere? I can’t find it…

Anyway, thank you for sharing – I love mid-century, and your stuff is gorgeous!

  30. 05 / 04 / 11

    Karin says:

OK, found the sideboard in the house by Simone at Living Sims, but that .rar file is damaged and won’t open (some type of structural damage).
Is there another place where I might find it? Thanks!!!

  31. 05 / 04 / 11

    Sarah says:

Karin, that sideboard is shared at Living Sims, it was the 2009 christmas gift if I remember correctly.

  32. 05 / 04 / 11

    Sarah says:

Karin I”m not sure why you would be having that problem, it could be the difference between having them as packages and sims3packs maybe? not sure. That sideboard should be available at Living Sims as the 2009 christmas gift.

  33. 05 / 05 / 11

    Karin says:

That might be the problem – that I have Sims3Packs most of the time… Thanks to all the great pictures, though, I’m mostly able to fix the problem by placing the objects from the catalog.

But just to confirm I’m a total pest (LOL!) – where do I find the hanging lamp in the kitchen of the Legacy house? It looks almost identical to the hanging sconce, but it’s a ceiling lamp. (Sorry to be asking so many questions…)

  34. 05 / 05 / 11

    Nicole says:

These are so beautiful, I grabbed them all & love ‘em! I really hope you upload even more lots specific for Queenstown placement – thank you so much!

  35. 05 / 07 / 11

    Karin says:

Me again – I found a work-around for that lamp, but it’s not ideal – putting all the .package files (including the house file!) for one of the houses that has the lamp in Mods makes it show up. Take out the house file, and the lamp is gone, too. I don’t understand how that works, and it’s a bit annoying, as the house file is huge…

I also noticed that the abstract patterns on the curtains are not showing up and the ones you used seem to be somehow mirror images of the ones I downloaded.

And of course I have yet another question: did you make the tile pattern in the modern kitchen? The one with the triangles? I’ve been looking for a similar pattern for ages, but I can’t find it anywhere…

The houses are just a-ma-zing in my game, though!! I also found some very cute houses at Zenka’s blog, and Queenstown just keeps getting more and more gorgeous!!

  36. 05 / 07 / 11

    Sarah says:

    hi Karin :)
The pattern for the curtains are in the Danish Modern set here, the hanging lamp I can’t seem to find the sims3pack or what set it was shared with, so you can download the package of that here, and yes I did make that pattern, you can download that here :)

  37. 05 / 08 / 11

    Laura says:

I’m being a pain and I’m sorry but is the furniture in the compact modern yours or if not can you point me in the right direction, by the way the lots look great in my game Thank you

  38. 05 / 08 / 11

    Sarah says:

laura you need to be a lot more specific

  39. 05 / 08 / 11

    Tarsier says:

Hi Sarah I adore these houses so much~ and they are a perfect fit into my sims’ lifestyles~ Thank you so much :D Not to be a bother but can I ask if you any used your Secretary Desks or Mid/Mod Bath Sets (kinda searched the page for every download you’ve made lol)? Also can you tell me if there are any custom paints other than the Heads of State Travel Prints and Christmas Gift 2010 painting?

  40. 05 / 08 / 11

    Sarah says:

Hi Tarsier, yes I think I used the mid/mod bathroom bits, and I think those paintings are the only ones used.

  41. 05 / 08 / 11

    Tarsier says:

Thanks for the reply :) I also noticed im missing the Red Dresser in the Legacy House, img 43 of 69, can you tell me where I can find it? Also I found that some house require the Zen Again Set for some flowers, The firewood from Frontier Finds, and The Kumquat plant from Year of the Tiger~

  42. 05 / 08 / 11

    Sarah says:

Hi again Tarsier, thanks for noting those store items, it can be hard to keep track of store stuff sometimes, so thanks :)
I have to fix the animation on the dresser so I might not have shared it yet, I’ll get onto it and share asap. Sorry about that, I just forgot about it (I have been using it in my game mostly for decorative use)

  43. 05 / 08 / 11

    Tarsier says:

No problem. The dresser looks amazing by the way, hope you can make the fix without any complications! Also (hoping this’ll be my last question, apologies!) where can I find the Black Fruit Dish in img 56 of 69? Haven’t seen it anywhere but it looks gorgeous~

  44. 05 / 08 / 11

    Tarsier says:

P.S. I messed up on the set of the Kumquat Plant, its from Lunar New Year~

  45. 05 / 08 / 11

    Sarah says:

I think that might be from the outdoor stuff pack.

  46. 05 / 08 / 11

    Karin says:

Sara, I already had those patterns from the Danish Modern set, but they’re just not showing up. Might just be the same package/Sims3Pack sort of issue I’m having with a few other items. I can’t find the big leaf pattern either, but pinching it from the daybed blanket worked just fine, thanks for that tip!

Thank you so much for the tile pattern – I’ve been going crazy looking for tiles like this every since I saw similar ones in a real life Mid-Century interior. :)

I have all the sets from this site, mostly in Sims3Pack form if you provided that… I might not have all the Living Sims sets, so maybe that’s where that lamp is hiding? Anyway, thanks for the package file.

That fruit dish is from OLS, like you said, and maybe the furniture in the Compact Modern that Laura is looking for is the Jazz set from the store? Took me a while to figure that out, too – yours looks so much better than the pink one in the store. LOL!!!

  47. 05 / 09 / 11

    Tarsier says:

Thanks again, I found another store item, plant from Muse Luxury and another item im missing, (almost closer to capturing the picture’s look :D). Where can I find the columns used in the Legacy House?

  48. 05 / 09 / 11

    Tarsier says:

In addition, where can I find that curtain in the Kitchen Window in img 64 of 69

  49. 05 / 09 / 11

    Sarah says:

Tarsier the columns are from fast lane stuff, and the curtain is included with the geneva kitchen I have shared here.

  50. 05 / 11 / 11

    Laura says:

Hi Sarah sorry to be confusing, the furniture from the compact modern lot I’m looking for is the sofa and armchair in front of the fireplace with the rounded arms bright green in colour can’t think of anything alse to describe them sorry.

  51. 05 / 11 / 11

    Sarah says:

Laura thats from the Jazz Fusion set from the store.

  52. 05 / 24 / 11

    Belle says:

Hi! I downloaded the Maston Residence earlier today and while I was playing, the living room caught fire and would not stop catching fire. Even after emptying the living room, it still catches on fire. Is there something I can do to stop this? Or do I have o reinstall the lot? Any help would be appreciated cause I really want to play this lot.

    Thanks,
    Belle

  53. 05 / 26 / 11

    Sarah says:

belle, I’m not sure, you could try replacing the fireplace?

  54. 06 / 11 / 11

    Sam says:

Hi Sara, I adore these houses but I still can’t get them installed! I followed the instructions on deleting my DCBackup, then reinstalling via the launcher, then taking the package file from DCBackup and putting it in my mods folder, but, no luck. :-( Any ideas?

  55. 06 / 21 / 11

    Alex Birkett says:

I couldn’t seem to find the ‘Fireplace’ that appears in image 66 (Compact Modern House) I thought it was a fireplace, but, it lacks the chimney in that house. I couldn’t find it in your downloads, so, Im a bit stumped.

  56. 07 / 20 / 11

    Crystal says:

Hey it’s Crystal again from the Queens Town page. The town is working beautifully, BTW. I came here to download a couple lots and I also attempted to download the replacement for the Jazz Club.
Well I had this install problem others are having, only the fix didn’t work for me. I followed it perfectly I’m sure, but I did notice where that tutorial said there would only be one file upon reinstalling the lot that wouldn’t work, for me there were multiple files for your Masterpiece and Sheltered Modern lots. The Blue Room had only one though. I searched the links listed in the first post for the lots I chose but it none of them matched. In any case I went ahead put all the files the DCBackup showed me (After cleaning it out and reinstalling the content) and put it in my Mods/Packages folder thinking I had a unique case but it would be fixed by this. Didn’t work.

The only thing I can think of now if no one has any advice to offer is to see if you could take a little time out and upload the .PACKAGE files so I can download and pop it into my mods folder without all the hubbub?

  57. 08 / 02 / 11

    Crystal says:

Been awhile since I lasted posted. Just checking in to see if anyone is willing to help. I’d still like to have these lots + the Blue Room.

  58. 08 / 02 / 11

    Sarah says:

Crystal, if the solution I suggested didn’t work I’m sorry but I don’t know how what else to say

  59. 08 / 06 / 11

    Crystal says:

Well thanks anyway, I sure they were all lovely lots.

  60. 09 / 29 / 11

    Rachel says:

I can’t install any of these. I have tried the workaround many times on each lot.
They never show up in My DC backup. No matter what I do… Any ideas?
It’s such a shame though! :( They are so awesome.

  61. 11 / 22 / 11

    Karin says:

I had trouble during the reinstall, too. It worked before, it doesn’t work now.

What finally made it work for me is to add the letters ebf_ (including the underscore) in front of the package file names and then putting them in my library.
(so my files are now ebf_0xaba1d8428a9018e4b6e8f4062e3d285.package – etc.)

I hope you can get it to work. The houses are really great – and playable. And I love the Blue Room.

I am having a lot of problems with the MC Legacy house, though. Whenever I open it to fix things (items that won’t show), it will crash me to the desktop. I’m going to keep trying, though, because I love the house.

Will you ever make that one dresser available? Even if it’s only deco? I really love the look, and I don’t really use the dresser much anyway. And what’s the frame with the brown ‘oriental bird’ print on top of that dresser in the picure?

  62. 11 / 30 / 11

    Crystal says:

I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed but a lot of the custom table tops in the MidCen. Masterpiece, including the modern kitchen set I downloaded, doesn’t allow anything to be set on the table. It goes underneath instead.
Also the platform bed from Awesims shows up as bed with a headboard and baseboard until you zoom in close, this is true with other content from Awesims as well.

Any clue how to fix it?

  63. 03 / 07 / 12

    Heather says:

I’d love to have these houses, but they don’t show up for me either and the forum link no longer directs to the tutorial. Since you placed them in Queenstown, would it be possible to simply get a version of QT that includes your spiffy lots? That way we could just find them in the world and save them to the library.

  64. 03 / 16 / 12

    Talia says:

love your set just wondering will you upload your Mid Century town as a saved world please would love to play in it please and thank you

  65. 06 / 12 / 12

    Heather says:

Thank you so much for the houses! I know you’ve gotten a lot of these questions, but I noticed that my Midcentury Butterfly house is missing the black lounging chair. Its the one in image 24. If it is a CC object could you tell me where to find it? Thanks once again for all your lovely work!

  66. 07 / 22 / 12

    kasia says:

    hi sarah,

lovely houses, could you please update the link about installing them without launcher? the link is dead.

    thanks!

  67. 12 / 02 / 12

    Alex says:

An odd issue I am experiencing with the homes and the mid-century kitchen set, is that none of the furnishings/surfaces appear to have any slots to put items on. All of the lamps and plants are stuck through the tables/counters, and moving the item does not fix the glitch.

I have tried putting the Geneva kitchen down in both pre-build and my own homes, with the same results. Any suggestions or ideas what might be causing the problem?

Adore the look of the entire set, and would hate to be unable to use any of it.
