So this is what I’ve been working on for… a whooole lot of time. Welcome to Redcliffs!
Redcliffs is a small (ok not so small) coastal village, with everything your sim could ever want! There are distinct “districts” – a rural section, downtown, suburbian, and coastal beach areas. I have included all rabbitholes downtown, except for the big restaurant (there is a diner though), but everything else is covered. The junkyard is in the industrial park near the back of town.
I want to say a humongous thank you to MactheKat, SimsArtGallery, Ballarose and all the people who have helped me along the way, whether it be by decorating some of the community lots or testing the hood for me, or just putting up with me bitching and moaning because the routing was making the game crash (that’s fixed, by the way, lol.)
I wanted to make it CC free, but you know… its hard. So I have made a file of all the CC I have used to make life just that little bit easier. I hate scrambling around for stuff included in worlds, so I would hate to subject you dudes to that too. There is one piece of CC that is essential (everything else will just convert to something EA if you don’t have it) and that is the cement terrain paint. I have used it on almost every community lot, so you definitely need that. Its in a well marked folder in the CC rar, so you’ll know what I’m talking about. All the CC in the folder is sorted by creator, so I want to say thank you to all those creators for all their work, and apologies for just including it all. I figure you guys won’t mind so much. It just makes it so much easier!!! There’s also some extra special unreleased Awesims bits in there (some stuff isn’t..perfect.. but was used anyway, lol.) namely the kitchen you guys might have seen about the place, and some nice cornices for community buildings (they are fences) & the arches for the pool lot. I know the CC file seems large. But some stuff you just can’t live without! And again, I want to say thank you to all the creators whose CC I have used, for all their work. Please click here for a list of CC included in the CC file. (if theres anything missing, I am sorry, it happens I guess.)
Redcliffs is made using a “large” map, using the most recent version of CAW. It requires the Base game, World Adventures and Ambitions. I assume your game also needs to be fully patched and up to date etc. I have used a bunch of store stuff, most of which is listed in the CC file. Routing has been thoroughly tested, and is mostly fine, there are always gonna be oddities though. I have picked through it with a fine tooth comb though, so it should be ok.
This world is provided as is, and you have to accept any risk involved with using custom worlds. I have had this world tested by several people, and have played it myself and it’s working swimmingly. If you encounter major problems, please let me know by leaving a comment here, and I will do my best to help, though I am by no means an expert, so I may not be able to do anything! Please don’t have me up about mediafire problems, like with downloading or whatever, there is literally nothing I can do about it, and it would be far to expensive to host such a large file here. Sorry about that!
One of my lovely friends from Living Sims - Speechless - has created some wonderful lots especially for Redcliffs (though you can of course use them elsewhere, lol!), be sure to visit her blog and grab them!

I’m having trouble downloading the save file. The other 2 files downloaded fine, but when I try to d/l the save file, it immediately goes to an error page. Is there a way to get it maybe somewhere else?

I keep getting freezing off and on.. this is a lovely world and i would so like to play but world keep on freezing off and on.. wonder what the problem could be? im up to date also

Tinaa, is it just when the game first loads? I have noticed when I loaded the hood for the first time, I would get some freezing off and on for maybe a minute or two, and then it went back to normal. I attributed it to the world spawning NPC’s, but I’m not certain, sorry.
Lisfyre, is the kitchen installed as sims3pack? Counters need to be installed like that for them to function properly. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t show up at all though, that is very strange.
As for the save file, everyone. Make sure it is in stalled in the “Saves” folder, in a folder called Redcliffs.sims3. Unfortunately thats all the advice I can give, I’m pretty nooby when it comes to worlds.

I think the world is absolutely incredible. As soon as I loaded it, I was in love. BUT, I cannot play in the world because it freezes too often and that drives me nuts. Otherwise, I give the look of the world a 10/10!

What can I say? This world is absolutely gorgeous! The months you spent on this totally amaze me. I do not have your patience and for that I admire you. I love how the seasons flow from one to the other and the layout of the world is fantastic!
On another note, I will say this. I’ve had zip problems with anything showing up with your world. For those that have freezing problems. YOUR computer cannnot handle the world. That being said, go to maty and look for the FPS Limiter. Your world will run like a charm. I’ll even go so far as to tell you that sarah’s world actually runs smoother than any of EA’s worlds. For the folks that the cabinets don’t show up… you do need to install the cabinets through the launcher. My bet is that they don’t show up in your game period. That’s how you know you need the launcher. I would really hate for anyone to miss this amazing and beautiful world. These are the small simple things you can do to make the world run better.

Amazing Job on this. I love it a lot. Only issue, which really isn’t a issue, is a lot of the empty lots are classified as “already built on” so they have the little house icon, instead of a lot one. It just means you can’t put pre-made homes down on these lots without bulldozing first. Not a big issue, but thought you might like to know :)
And to Haley, The most up-to-date AMB patch is 4.2 I believe.

I love this world so much! There’s only one problem, and that is that none of the building cornices are showing up, or the arches on the pool. They show in the preview shot of the lot, and from afar, but when my sims are on the lot, they revert to a maxis creation, that definitely doesn’t fit the lot well. Please help, because I really want to play on this world.

Kementari – If you don’t have the expansions, the world will work but the things sarah used from those expansions will either be replaced with something else or won’t be there at all. One thing you won’t get is the fish that she put in the dome. Those are WA fish. EA might replace those fish with what came with the base game though. You would still need the cc file or those things will not show up in the game either.

The world does freeze a little at the beginning to generate the npc’s and get itself sorted out. I haven’t had any problems since.

Hi i downloaded the world, that is installed, as for the custom content, i dont know what is wrong, everytime i try to extract a file it says operation broken on my winrar, has anyone any idea what is wrong, i am assuming i am supposed to put the sidewalk texture file into my —-/sims3 etc etc mods/packages folder? cant do anything it keeps breaking the operation in winrar

I really, really, really love this neighborhood! It’s so obvious that you put tons and tons of work into it, and the layout is just perfect. It really is now the only one I want to play. Unfortunately I think the neighborhood is just too big for my game and it produces so much lag for doing anything..even switching floors levels of a house or trying to get them to go to work. The hospital and business buildings have also disappeared.
I have a brand new computer and I don’t have this problem in any other neighborhood, so I know it’s not just my game or my computer.
I was wondering if you ever plan on making a smaller version? I think trimming it down might help the game run much faster..even though it won’t be your masterpiece!
Anyway, thank you for all the work you did on it! I really enjoyed looking around and truly wish I could use it. It is the only neighborhood I can find of this quality, and it’s so pretty that it’s almost worth the lag!

Megan, unfortunately I won’t be making a smaller version of it – it would require making the whole thing from scratch, so sorry about that.
As for missing objects, apparently some deco objects are missing – they were a contest prize from Living Sims forum, and I guess they were missed. Apologies! They will just default back to EA objects.

Just one thing – I have the double sink unit for the *Geneva Kitchen* – but am unable to locate the double sink. Was there one? If not, which sink did you use for your DOTY 2010 entry?

Lilymayrose, I decided not to include the double sink because it didn’t function correctly in the game. I just use a normal single sink now which sits nicely in the centre of the counter :)

I have a question, I tried this world and my computer was able to run it very smoothly and without lag the first few times. But lately, even just loading the save file takes up to 30 minutes. And the game lags insanely. For the moment I have only one family that I play with ingame and I didn’t add any new custom content either. My computer is capable of running other big games without slowing anything down, e.g. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It’s just The Sims 3 that lags badly. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Are you planning on making more worlds? Maybe one similiar to Redcliffs but very small in size?

HI there, I have removed the save file as it was causing problems with people who do not have Awesomemod installed. The save was created with awesomemod installed, and as such, may cause problems if you do not have it. I didn’t realise this when I uploaded.

This world is running smoothly..at first i was having problems with freezing.. so i had my sims visit all the community spots and found out that the military park on industrial park section they couldnt visit.. was having routing problems ..so i just turned around the park and now my sims can visit the park and no freeezing.. when i put no vistors zoning on that park that too help stop the freezing..but i wanted my sims to visit and i turn the park around and they can visit and i put the zoing back to big park..hope this help some people that having any problems with freezing.. Lovely world,,im so glad i fixed the problem,,woot!

The last couple of days my game lags alot. I triedwhat Tina said but that didn’t work for me. Its really strange because one hour is lags the next it runs smooth. II have a good pc and graphiccard so that can’t be the problem. It’s to bad because its really beautiful.

Danjo, you install the world by double clicking the sims3pack and installing it via the launcher.
The custom content – if it is sims3pack you just install it with the launcher, or if it is packages it goes in your mods/packages folder.

Maybe it’s my game malfunctioning – I don’t know. Both the save game and the new game I started are running fine, other than that both are missing these buildings.

You need sims in your neighbourhood in order to have a consignment clerk, as well as clerks for the other registers. So just plop some random sims down and it should be fine.

Bianca, I’m guessing your pc isn’t able to run the world, your specs may not be up to snuff, I suspect. Redcliffs is fairly large and detailed. :)

I absoltely love this world, it istalled fine and plays fine, no lag, but I have one small problem, when the sims go to bed, they get stuck next to the bed! They just stand there, while thier motives drop lower and lower. This happens in every household and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the neighbourhood! I don’t get it lol.

I downloaded the CC file, installed it today, everything works fine but I’m having an issue with cornices.
The cornice 2 is working nice, but the cornices 3 and 1 have an ugly spotty texture on them and i can’t change the color, i can’t access CAS no matter how much i click. lol
Do you have any idea why it does that to only two cornices ?

A couple of days back I told you about the road tear when you zoom in, but it’s no dealbreaker for me :) the lag was but I solved that problem too. I noticed when I removed awesomemod from my mod folder the game runs smooth. Plus I also rotated the park by the army like the person before me said and now it’s as smooth as sunset valley :) Thanks again for this world.

Thats great to hear Dutchy! The reason I removed the save file was because it was saved using awesomemod and of course not everyone has awesomemod!
Zhaana, that is SO weird! Perhaps try removing the fence and then re-drawing it (is that the right word even?), or remove it from your game and clear caches & re place it in your game. i haven’t come across that problems, sorry! Very very odd indeed. I’ve been using these cornices *extensively* lol.

Phenomenal! Absolutely phenomenal. It is so rich with detail, diversified, and yet everything flows together wonderfully. I was surprised with the scope of this world that I’m not experiencing any lag. It plays verys smoothly. It’s an extremely social world, I suppose it’s because of all the registers (generating vendors). I’ve had 4 transistion from NPCs, so far, without any input from me. I feel like I’m watching a soap opera… and I luv it! Thank you so much!

First let me say that Redcliffs is a beatiful world. I’m enjoying it very much.
I’ve only had one issue so far, and it may just be that I’m blind, but I can’t seem to find the hospital. Reading through the comments I see that one other people has said that their hospital (along with the business building – though I didn’t notice if mine was gone as well) had disappeared. Looking at pictures, I realise that the hostipal is supposed to be where a giant space (that I thought was a parking lot) is.
Just thought I’d throw that in there and was wondering if anyone else experienced it.

Sarah, I am so in love with Redcliffs, I can tell the amount of effort and blood sweat n tears you put into this wonderful world. Alas I hate to report a problem. I am hoping this is an easy fix. My newlywedded sim couple went to France on their honeymoon and returned to Redcliffs but they were stuck on a peninsula. No matter how much I tried I could not get to them! I could not zoom in to them, they were too far away…I could not get move objects to work either,,,any suggestions?

Good afternoon,
I have downloaded and installed this world on to the Sims 3. However, the game will not load it; the actual game loads and runs just fine until I load your world, then crash bang boom and the game just quits. I have the newest update for the Sims 3 with no expansion packs installed. I also used the game launcher to install it, and extracted the file into downloads. Perhaps I am missing something? I have downloaded and installed other worlds just fine, and they to run just fine in the game. Hopefully with your assistance we can get this world up and running, because everyone has wonderful things to say, and I would love to be one of them:)

I have a question. The world file has a bunch of custom content packaged in with it (some of which is also in the cc file you included and some of which I already have in my game). I tried using Delphy’s Cleaner but then the world was uninstallable. Any ideas how to install the world without putting all the other cc into my dccache files?

Karen, I’m sorry but I don’t know :s Sorry about that! You could try installing and then just uninstalling the CC you don’t want afterwards maybe?
Jams, you may have to redownload the file, it may have become corrupted somehow while downloading.
Annie, it sounds like you have done everything right, and the only thing i can attribute it to is the lack of expansions…but I always just assumed expansion specific stuff would just not appear and/or be substituted for base game objects.. so… yeah I dunno about that either sorry (feeling rather useless lol)
As for things disappearing (military/hospital/whatever lots), honestly I have no idea what could be happening there. The only thing I can think of is to reinstall the world. Everything shows up fine for me :(

Also, if there is a rabbithole missing, you could just replace it (you’d need to use moveobjects because my lots are quite small and are only just big enough for the rabbitholes. actually I think the hospital runs over the edge of its lot, so maybe tahts why it’s disappearing. You can just plop your own on there if you like. I used the little green hospital.

I downloaded your world, which works fine, with your special texture which also works fine. the Cornices and whatnot crash my game. I spent 12 hours, one by one testing each folder of my custom content, updating file versions checking for conflicts and they all allowed the game to start, except for your cornice files and what ever else is in the folders. Im still planning to use the town how ever because I absolutely adore it. Thanks for making it.
Im on windows 7 service pack 1 with the latest patch of sims 3 for ambitions. I wouldn’t worry about it, if Im the only one having the stupid issue then its cool.

I don’t download worlds just because there haven’t been any worth downloading. This really is an amazing project you undertook! The world & the details in it are so very impressive! I am in awe of this, for sure! It’s absolutely beautiful!
Like Karen, I have most of the cc you used in making this already combined/installed in my game. When I go to uninstall the items associated with Redcliffs via the launcher, I can’t. It tells me that they cannot be uninstalled with dependents. I believe (for those who need the info) that we have to take the files out of our games via our own files, versus removing them from the neighborhood. It’s just my experience and I hope it helps another down the line.
Again – thank you so much for this gorgeous place for my sims to live! I can only imagine the pains you went through to get this perfect!

Lex – I kind of had the same problem, along with the world the .sims3pack installed a bunch of unwanted files (and also stuff I had already installed as a package – so now I have some things double), and I couldn’t uninstall them via the launcher. Were you able to delete them?

Also a tip for base game users: some might experience loading crashes when opening a new game with this neighborhood. If so, try to donwload he save file , somewhere above. It’ll probably work. :)

Martine – I know the launcher won’t uninstall the files, it claims the object has “dependents”. I haven’t tried taking the items from where they are in the neighborhood (which may or may not be way too time consuming and may or may not work) to see if the launcher will then allow them to be removed. I thought about trying that, but because I am in the process of recombining some of my dls, I’m just going to remove the dupe files from my own files. I would rather do this so I don’t come across any issues.
I might try the removal thing (from the neighborhood) with maybe one piece of cc, just to see if it will work. I’ll let you know if I do that & if it worked for me. :)

Lex – I found a way to clean the sims3pack, by using Delphy’s CUSTARD tool, located here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=390235 Also useful for any other type of sims3pack content (selecting only certain items from store sets, cleaning uploaded sims etc).

Martine – Thank you, thank you!! I went in & tried to locate all of just one item. It took a really long time to do that. I still couldn’t get the ottoman out of the game. I was ready to just let Redcliffs go (cause I just finished cleaning & re-combining my files for the 3rd time in a month). I didn’t want to but with my computer probs, I felt like I had no choice. I so appreciate that! I can get some of the other store stuff out, now, too. Yay! I can keep Redcliffs!!

First i would like to say, your world is one of the best custom worlds i have seen so far. I have play tested your world for a whole real life day and two buildings are missing from your world. I checked in edit town and these lots are just empty. The two buildings are the hospital and the military base. i found a replacement for the hospital but no luck for the military base. I also can’t seem to find any collectables like beetles, rocks etc. other than that your world is working great and no lag whatsoever. its maybe possible that my installation of your world didn’t go well, i don’t know.

Wow, okay patch 1.17 seems to have broken a lot of custom content. If anyone else has downloaded this only after updating to 1.17 or upgrading to Late Night, you might notice some custom content not working. In my case it a few window objects didn’t appear correctly, like windows and wallpapers, and others caused a complete crash (Inge Jones’ windows). I’ve checked the internet and the modding folks at modthesims seem to think it has something to do with naming? I don’t really understand the thread. Apparently stuff that existed before you patch are unaffected.

Ooo. I too was going to download this, but I’m willing to wait for the LN version. Though, to avoid the problems that the original had, could you maybe have the custom content bundled separately from the world file? I can always use Custard to clean it if you don’t, but with CC probably getting bonked as more patches come in, that allows us to delete and replace updated content as necessary.

But… I’m having a bit of a problem. Certain lots, such as the library, have a few strange windows. Yes, I downloaded the windows that you suggested from the store but not all, since I don’t have enough points. Anyway, these windows have a frame but no glass and there are rectangular gaps where the glass should be. Every time I click on them I’m automatically kicked out of the game. What should I do? I don’t want your awesome neighborhood to be ruiend by this!

Hi Sarah, that is very interesting! Is it possible you still have old versions of some windows in game? The windows for the library for example are using Madayas Classic windows, which have been updated, and I used the updated windows in that lot. Would you be able to let me know which other lots you noticed causing problems?
OH actually I just noticed that you are using the older redcliffs, which is using non-updated windows, to fix that problem I suggest you download the update for Late Night, which uses updated windows. The buildings and everything downtown will look different (hope thats ok) but the windows (which were borked by Late Night/The patch of doom) will all be ok.

I have been waiting for a long time to download Red Cliffs. :) Since it is now Christmas I was able to get the expansions required to use this world! I am so excited! I have downloaded all the CC needed for the world….except for the Storybook full set, Hewnsman full set, Regal full set, and the Bayside full set. (I went to the link you provided: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=15100.0) I have looked on every single page, post, and link that they provided and all the downloads have failed to work for me. When I say failed I mean that when I download the .sims3pack files to the launcher it says it was a success, but then I get on the Sims3 and the items in those sets are no where to be found. I then quit and look at the launcher and see that the files are in color (not grayed out like it should be). I hope that made sense. Please let me know if you still don’t understand. :) I really hope you can help me.

The original Redcliffs IS still available, if you read through some of the comments, but it still requires all EP’s up to Ambitions. If you are patched you’d still have to do some work to it, removing some of the windows and replacing them with working copies, since the patch borked a lot of CC windows), but the world is there if you want it! I just noticed that the windows I used (inge jones’ contemporary windows) have been updated now! yay! Get em here
